Freshwater Angelfish

Pterophyllum scalare

Description

Freshwater Angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare) are one of the most iconic and recognizable tropical fish in the aquarium hobby. Known for their tall, triangular bodies and long flowing fins, Angelfish bring elegance and movement to any aquarium. They come in a wide range of colors and patterns, including silver, marble, koi, black, gold, and veil varieties.

Native to the slow-moving waters of the Amazon Basin, Angelfish thrive in calm, well-decorated aquariums with vertical structures such as plants and driftwood. Their graceful swimming style and semi-peaceful temperament make them a popular centerpiece fish for community setups.
