EAST INDIAN LEOPARD GECKO (Eublepharis hardwickii)
The East Indian Leopard Gecko is a fascinating and rarely seen species native to rocky scrublands and dry forests of eastern India. Unlike the more commonly kept leopard gecko (Eublepharis macularius), this species has a darker, more natural appearance with earthy brown and gray coloration accented by bold banding and spotting that provides excellent camouflage in its native habitat.
Typically reaching 8–10 inches in length, East Indian Leopard Geckos are terrestrial, nocturnal lizards that spend their days sheltering in burrows and rocky crevices. They thrive in warm, dry enclosures with plenty of hides and a suitable temperature gradient. Their diet consists of appropriately sized insects such as crickets, roaches, and mealworms.
Known for their hardy nature and unique wild-type appearance, East Indian Leopard Geckos are an excellent choice for enthusiasts looking to keep a less common member of the leopard gecko family. Their distinctive patterning, calm demeanor, and natural beauty make them a standout addition to any reptile collection.
