Full Description
Geophagus “Seveni” (Geophagus sp.)
Geophagus “Seveni” is a beautiful and lesser-seen eartheater cichlid, appreciated for its natural earthy tones, subtle patterning, and graceful movement. Like other Geophagus species, it spends much of its time sifting through the substrate, creating a constantly active and engaging display.
Its coloration typically features a mix of soft golds, silvers, and muted reds, often accented with iridescent highlights and fine striping. While not as flashy as some cichlids, its elegant behavior and natural look make it a favorite for South American biotope aquariums.

Tank Setup
- Soft, sandy substrate is essential (for natural sifting behavior)
- Add driftwood and rocks
- Open areas for foraging

Behavior & Notes

- Constantly filtering substrate through their gills in search of food
- Very active and interesting to watch

Pro Tip: Avoid gravel—Geophagus species can damage their gills when sifting through sharp substrates. Fine sand will keep them healthy and encourage natural behavior.
