Mint Poison Dart Frog
Phyllobates terribilis
The Mint Poison Dart Frog is one of the most impressive and sought-after dart frog species in the hobby. Known for its vibrant mint-green coloration and bold presence, this stunning amphibian is a captive-bred color morph of the Golden Poison Frog. Their bright coloration, active behavior, and relatively large size make them a favorite among dart frog enthusiasts.
Despite their intimidating common name, captive-bred Mint Poison Dart Frogs are completely harmless when kept in captivity, as they do not possess the toxins found in their wild counterparts. These frogs thrive in lush, tropical vivariums with high humidity, live plants, and plenty of natural cover.
Unlike many smaller dart frog species, Phyllobates terribilis is often more visible and active throughout the day, making it an excellent display animal for naturalistic vivariums.
