Patricia Dart Frog (Dendrobates tinctorius “Patricia”)
The Patricia Dart Frog is a stunning color morph of Dendrobates tinctorius, admired for its bold contrast and confident personality. This variety features a bright golden-yellow to orange dorsal base with distinctive black patterning across the back and limbs, making it a true standout in any tropical vivarium.
Native to the rainforests of Suriname, D. tinctorius is a terrestrial species that thrives in well-planted, high-humidity enclosures with plenty of leaf litter, cork bark, and hiding spaces. Unlike many dart frogs, tinctorius morphs are known for being relatively bold and visible during the day, making them an excellent display species.
Patricia Dart Frogs typically reach about 1.5–2 inches in length as adults. They do best in small groups or pairs (with proper space) and require a diet of appropriately sized live insects such as fruit flies and small pinhead crickets dusted with vitamin supplements.
With proper care, these frogs can live 10+ years in captivity, offering long-term enjoyment for dedicated amphibian keepers.
