Full Description
Sterba’s Corydoras (Corydoras sterbai) are peaceful, bottom-dwelling freshwater fish that thrive in well-maintained aquariums. Here are some key care tips:
- Tank Setup: A minimum of 20 gallons is recommended, with a soft substrate like sand to protect their sensitive barbels. Provide hiding spots using plants, driftwood, or caves.
- Water Parameters: Maintain a pH of 6.2–7.8, hardness of 4–12°N, and temperature between 73–78°F (23–26°C).
- Diet: They are omnivores and prefer sinking pellets, bloodworms, brine shrimp, and vegetable-based foods like spirulina.
- Behavior & Tank Mates: They are peaceful and do well in groups of 5 or more. Ideal tank mates include other small, non-aggressive fish.
- Lifespan: With proper care, they can live 3–4 years, though some sources suggest they may live up to 15–20 years.
- Breeding: They reproduce through spawning and do not guard their eggs
