Diet

Sunspot Tropheus are primarily herbivores and require a diet rich in spirulina and other vegetable-based foods. Feed a high-quality herbivore pellet or flake along with occasional vegetables such as zucchini or spinach. Limiting high-protein foods helps reduce the risk of digestive issues such as bloat.

Compatibility

• Best kept in groups of 10–15 or more to help spread aggression and establish a healthy social hierarchy.
• Can be housed with other suitable Lake Tanganyika cichlids in larger aquariums.
• Can also be successfully mixed with many Malawi Mbuna species in a properly planned aquarium. Because both groups enjoy hard, alkaline water and rocky environments, they can make excellent tank mates when provided with plenty of rockwork, swimming space, and appropriate stocking levels.
• Not recommended for peaceful community fish or slow-moving species.
