Synodontis Valentine
Synodontis valentiana
Description
Synodontis valentiana, often referred to as the Valentine Synodontis, is a striking African catfish known for its bold contrast and classic Synodontis body shape. It features a light cream to silver base color decorated with distinct dark spotting and banding, giving it a clean, high-contrast appearance that stands out in larger aquariums. Like other Synodontis species, it has strong pectoral spines, long barbels, and a sturdy, armored body built for life along the river bottom.
This species is peaceful for its size and makes an excellent addition to African cichlid or large community setups, especially where a hardy, active bottom-dweller is needed. Mostly nocturnal, it becomes more confident and visible as it settles in, especially in aquariums with plenty of cover.
